PAID WHILE YOU READ

The four holdings in the hoard have declared £37,379 a year between them. This page divides that rate down to the second and counts it out loud. It is the same number as everywhere else on the site — just moving.

The goblin gets paid while you readReal rate: £37,379 a year, from the ledger. No cheating.

HOW THIS IS COUNTED

THE RATE IS REAL

£37,379 a year is the declared annual income of the four positions in the hoard, at the rates their boards have actually announced. It is the same figure the ledger and the freedom date are built on. Change a holding and this number changes with it.

THE COUNTING IS A CONVENIENT FICTION

Dividends do not trickle. They land in lumps, on payment dates, four to twelve times a year, and some of them get cut. The machine takes the annual rate and divides it by the seconds in a year, which is a useful way to feel a number and a useless way to plan a month.

NOTHING HERE IS COMPOUNDING

The reels do not reinvest, and they do not grow. They roll at a flat rate until the ledger says otherwise. What the pile does when the money is put back to work is the freedom date's job — currently Jul 2029.

THE POUND IS THE HONEST ONE

The ledger is in pounds. The dollar chip converts the display at the live GBP/USD rate from frankfurter.dev, which is a snapshot of one day's exchange rate and nothing the goblin has any control over.
